Pancit Canton |
In Filipino Cuisine, the word Pancit or Pansit refers to
noodles. Brought by the early chinese to the Philippines, pancit has been
adopted into the local cuisine. Pancit dishes has become a standard in the
local restaurants and different variations have evolved through time.
Our recipe of Pancit Canton is time honoured and we hope you
enjoy its taste.
Ingredients
- Chicken pieces - 1/2 kilo
- Mix veggies (ready to stir fry vegetables) -1 pack
- Pancit Canton Noodles – 1 pack
- Garlic (shopped)- 3 cloves
- Onion (sliced) - 1 whole
- Fish Sauce - 2 tablespoon
- Cornstarch (as thickener) - 2 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Water (if necessary)
Pancit Sauce
- Water – 3 cups
- Ground pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Knorr seasoning – 1 tablespoon
Procedure
Pancit Sauce
- In a bowl, put the 3 cups of water, ground pepper, and Knorr seasoning.
- Mix well then set aside.
Main ingredients
- In a cooking pot, sauté garlic and onion then add the chicken
- Add fish sauce while sautéing the ingredients.
- Mix until the chicken is tender and cooked
- Add water if it becomes dry
- Add the vegetables mixing only once.
- Simmer until the chicken is cooked and tender.
- On a separate bowl, mix corn starch with half glass of water. Stir until the corn-starch is dissolved.
- Add the corn-starch to the cooking pot and simmer a bit more.
- On the same cooking pot, remove the vegetables and chicken but leave the sauce.
- Add the Pancit canton noodles then stir for a few minutes.
- Add the vegetables and chicken back to the cooking pot then add the Pancit sauce and stir.
- Enjoy!
